About us

A small firm, deliberately.

L&A Solutions LLP supports UK startups and small businesses with accounting, tax, bookkeeping and payroll. We are set up so that you speak to someone who knows your business, and so that the price you were quoted is the price you pay.

About the firm

What we set out to do

Plenty of small businesses have had the same experience with an accountant: work arrives late, questions go unanswered for a fortnight, and the invoice contains something nobody mentioned in advance. None of that is inevitable, and most of it comes down to how a firm chooses to organise itself.

We built L&A Solutions LLP around three commitments: a named contact who stays the same, a fee agreed before work begins, and explanations that make sense to someone who does not work in finance. Everything else follows from those.

How we work

We work to a schedule rather than to deadlines. Requests for records go out early, queries are batched rather than trickled out, and filing dates are met with room to spare. That approach is less dramatic than the January rush, and considerably less expensive for everyone involved.

We are also willing to tell you when you do not need something. If a monthly bookkeeping service would be overkill for your volume, or if incorporating would cost you more than it saves, we will say so. A recommendation is worth more when it is not automatic.

Abstract geometric composition of layered panels representing organised financial records

L&A Solutions LLP takes its obligations seriously, including client identity verification and anti-money-laundering checks, secure handling of personal data and the confidentiality of client information. Full registration details are shown in the footer of every page.

Our approach

How we approach the work

Four principles that decide how we handle anything not covered by a rule.

  • Say it plainly

If an explanation needs a glossary, it is not finished. We translate the technical position into something you can act on.

  • Be straight about cost

Fees are agreed in advance. If something falls outside the arrangement, we tell you what it costs before doing it, not afterwards.

  • Work early

We start the year-end process shortly after the year ends, so there is time to ask questions and none of the work depends on a rush.

  • Give the honest answer

Including when the honest answer is that you do not need the service, or that another adviser is better placed to help.

Working together

What working with us looks like

The same sequence for every client, whatever the size of the engagement.

  1. Step 01: A proper conversation

We ask about your business, your records and what has frustrated you previously, then tell you what we would actually recommend.

  2. Step 02: A written fee

You receive a quotation setting out the services included, what is excluded and the monthly cost, before any commitment.

  3. Step 03: Onboarding done once

Identity checks, HMRC authorisation and the transfer of records from a previous adviser, handled in one organised sequence.

  4. Step 04: A year that runs to plan

Deadlines scheduled, reminders sent in advance, and a named contact available when a question comes up.

See whether we are a good fit.

Have a short conversation with us before committing to anything. If we are not the right firm for your business, we will tell you.
